Dreams are just dreams.
A lot of people say that dreams don't mean anything until and unless you make those dreams happen i.e to say make them come true.
Dreams don't have any shape, size, color, they don't have any boundaries. They don't have any gender discrimination either.
That is to say that a boy and a girl can have the same kind of dreams
Both can dream and can live. There is no full stop to it.
Alas! we live in a hypocrite society.
The parents initially allow their boys and girls to dream. The boy's dreams are taken up seriously and both the parents make it their own passion to help their boy live his dream.
On the other hand, the girl's dreams are taken up lightly, they are considered to be a part-time hobby, they are not realistic, they are short-lived. Because every girl's dream is (and should be) to get married.
The only topic of her discussion should be about the kind of boy she wants to marry. With her friends she should discuss about her marriage functions, dresses, jewelry, make up, etc. etc.
Apart from that if she has any other dream, she can take it up after marriage, obviously with the consent of her husband and with due permission of her in-laws.
Right from getting born to her striving for life, the girl has to struggle, and struggle a lot.
During childhood she has to struggle for her rights amongst her brother siblings. In her teenage years she gets a "NO" for outings, movies, late night parties, staying at a friend's place and so on.
When she becomes an adult and gets the right to choose; she has to choose between two choices - first being marriage and the other being her career.
While the first choice is taken up whole heartedly by the parents, relatives, the entire society. No one (and I mean No One) takes up the second choice seriously. No one even bothers to know what has she been thinking and dreaming of all these years.

While the first choice is born pre-maturely; the second choice is killed and is brutally murdered by all the people of our society.
The struggle worsens after marriage. Now, in her new role - as a wife, -as a daughter in law - she has no identity. She has lost her existence in pleasing and taking care of the family members which she has never chosen. The choice was thrust upon her. Still she abides by all the societal and the parental laws.
Real life is not like a daily soap saga. Every woman cannot be a "Mary Kom".

Still the bravery of the girl helps her survive and struggle for her new life.
Most of the girls succumb to the life forced upon them. While the girls with weak determination and will-power accept the life as it is thrown at them. The stronger girls try everything possible to keep their dream alive. They may not be able to make their dream happen, but they also won't allow their dream to die a similar death as of their own.
Within the deep recesses of her heart she nurtures her dream. At night, while everything around is lost in the darkness, her eyes are wide open and she can see her dream clearly in front of her teary eyes dancing sadly, shamefully and fearfully.
Not only the girl but her dream also is scared
